What this can mean
A sealed heating system can lose pressure through accessible fittings, concealed pipes or faults within the boiler system. The pressure display tells you a change has happened; it does not identify the cause. A heating engineer’s assessment of the boiler can be useful before investigating hidden runs.
Useful observations
Record when the pressure falls, whether the system is hot or cool, and what has already been checked. Consistent observations are more useful than isolated readings taken under different conditions.
Before taking anything apart
Do not keep topping up indefinitely or remove a boiler casing. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and use an appropriately qualified heating professional.
How to choose the next step
You can start with the symptoms without diagnosing the pipe. Our central heating leak detection page explains the kind of investigation that may be appropriate. Describe what has changed and share any previous findings so the agreed scope addresses the unresolved problem.
Planning a residential visit
For agreed residential work, the £1,345 package connects specialist investigation with the plumbing repair. It includes detection and tracing, necessary access or excavation, parts and materials, suitable post-repair testing and a Trace & Access report. A 12-month workmanship warranty applies to the repair.
The £100 booking deposit is deducted from the total, leaving £1,245. Applicable tax is included. Decorative and remedial reinstatement, including restoring floors, plaster, paving and other finishes, is excluded. Commercial work is quoted separately. Read the complete package scope before arranging a visit.
