Understand the problem
A patch of persistently wet ground can be linked to a buried pipe, drainage, rainfall or watering. Its location and timing are useful clues. We consider whether the symptoms fit the private water network before choosing the next checks.
Relate the ground conditions to the supply
We review the meter, known pipe routes and outdoor connections. Suitable detection methods can help compare likely sections, taking account of pipe materials and soil conditions. Necessary access is discussed before the agreed plumbing work proceeds.
What to prepare
Mark known stop valves and supply routes on any plan you have. Mention irrigation, outdoor taps, outbuildings and recent garden works that may have affected buried services.
Scope matters
A garden leak investigation does not include landscape restoration or specialist drainage surveys. The exact scope must match the evidence and the agreed instruction.
Detection through to the plumbing repair
For agreed residential work, the £1,345 package connects specialist investigation with the plumbing repair. It includes detection and tracing, necessary access or excavation, parts and materials, suitable post-repair testing and a Trace & Access report. A 12-month workmanship warranty applies to the repair.
The £100 booking deposit is deducted from the total, leaving £1,245. Applicable tax is included. Decorative and remedial reinstatement, including restoring floors, plaster, paving and other finishes, is excluded. Commercial work is quoted separately. Read the complete package scope before arranging a visit.
Choosing the right method
One method that may be considered is acoustic leak detection. Compare sounds that may be associated with escaping pressurised water. The engineer selects the approach for the actual installation; no specific instrument is promised for every visit.
