Define the affected network

A business premises may have separate supplies, plant and tenant areas. Describe what is losing water and any checks already completed. Available plans and access to metering information help frame the instruction without assuming the whole site is one system.

Set the operational constraints

Water shutdowns can affect staff welfare, production and customer services. Explain essential uses, opening hours and any areas requiring escorts or induction. The nominated site contact should be able to coordinate access and approved decisions during the visit.

Get a site-specific quotation

Commercial work is quoted separately from the £1,345 residential package. Agree the investigation, reporting and any proposed repair scope in writing. Planning for later remedial work is also useful where opening surfaces could affect the site’s normal operation.

Keep these points in mind

  • Name the authorised site contact
  • Provide operating and induction requirements
  • Agree scope, interruption and reporting

This guide provides general preparation information. The right investigation depends on the property, its systems and the evidence available. For active flooding, electrical danger or an unsafe ceiling, seek urgent appropriate help rather than waiting for a routine appointment.
